Daily living, personal care + high intensity support


Each client will have different needs, but your typical day could include companionship, assistance with daily living, personal care assistance and transportation/community engagement. We also support members of our veteran’s community via the Veterans Care Association (VCA), helping them with day-to-day task around the home.

Some clients will require high intensity support, either in their own homes or in a community health setting, with full training provided by our in-house clinical team. This could include complex bowel care, enteral feeding and tracheostomy care. We also recruit registered and enrolled nurses in some of these cases. *Please note you will need the required training to provide this level of support.

What will a typical day look like?


As a support worker your daily tasks will be focused on providing in-home and community support.

Depending on your clients’ needs these could include cleaning, cooking, bathing, dressing, and other personal care tasks. You will also play an important part in their social life, interacting, chatting and being a companion – which is a great boost to their mental health and wellbeing. Many will also rely on you to help them get to appointments and community activities in your car.

You could also have the responsibility for monitoring a client’s progress, reporting any concerns or changes and documenting accurate and relevant information in their file.

What this role requires
 

Screening and reference checks are all part of our sign-up process. These help to keep everyone in our community safe, and you can’t work until these are all submitted and verified. There are also other requirements you need to know about:

  • You must have or be willing to obtain a Police Check, Working With Children Check (WWCC), NDIS Workers Check and First Aid Certificate
     
  • Proof of identity (100 points)
     
  • Many roles will also require you own, or have access to a registered and insured car, to transport clients to medical appointments and social activities in the community.
     
  • You need to be willing to travel between client homes throughout your shift
     
  • If you are working with clients that have more complex needs such as clients funded by the NDIS/ICare/HCP, you will need a Cert III in Individual Support, Aged Care, Disability or Community Care.
