Meet Theresa! 

Theresa’s passion lies in helping vulnerable people and the idea of wanting to give back to her community led her to become a support worker at Alliance Community 12 months ago.

She enjoys seeing her clients achieve their goals – no matter how big or small they are. “The variety of people I meet are also teaching me as much as I am supporting them.”

Theresa says no two days at work are the same and her favourite moment is when clients overcome their disabilities by trying new things. She feels extremely happy when clients reach their full potential.

For Theresa, security and ability to help people in need are major perks of working in the disability support sector. “As long as there are people in need, my role will always be required”.

Her advice to anyone who wants to start their career as support workers is to constantly ask questions as that is the best way to learn. “Ask questions, listen, learn, and be creative… if at first you don’t succeed, try again!”
