Support at Home program

A new personalised aged care program to help you live independently at home longer. Find out what it means for you.

What is the new Support at Home program?

On 1 November 2025, the Australian Government will introduce a new aged care program called Support at Home. The program aims to provide better and more personalised care for older Australians. The new program is based on recommendations from the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety and changes to the Aged Care Act. Support at Home aims to help older people live comfortably and independently at home for longer with care and respect.

What do I need to know about the new Support at Home program?

The aged care system is changing to better meet the needs of older Australians. Support at Home is the government's new aged care program launching on 1 November 2025 and will replace Home Care Packages. Here’s a simple breakdown of the new program and what’s changing:

Support at Home will introduce eight new classifications for services. These classifications will determine your budget and are designed to provide better care based on your individual needs.

The budgets will now be reset every three months. If you have any unspent funds at the end of the quarter, you can carry over some of these unused funds. The quarterly budgets give you more flexibility and are designed to make it easier for you to manage your budget.

There is now an easier process to see what care you need, with a new integrated assessment process. Don’t worry, if you have already been assessed, you don’t need to be reassessed.

The changes to the new Support at Home program 2025 will make aged care more accessible and more personalised to your individual needs.
