Say hello to Jaimi! 

When Jaimi was in high school, most of the girls had plans to go into childcare, but she had other plans. Knowing that she wanted to give back to the community, Jaimi decided to complete a Certificate III in aged care. “I thought some people had no family and I could give a little back. They have done a lot for our generation.”

Jaimi has been a support worker with Alliance Community for more than two years and one of the things she loves most about her job is being able to work with young clients and to put a smile on their faces. Even though it may be challenging to work out the needs of a new clients, Jaimi said the most important thing is to listen to them.

“I have many favourite moments being a support worker… My job brings lots of special experience and opportunity to go away for work with clients. I did get the chance to go away on a holiday to a beach house at Goolwa and Kangaroo Island, which I’ve never been to before.” One of the benefits of working as a support worker, she said, is the opportunity to meet new people and being able to make a difference in their lives.
