Meet Sharlene! Based in Canberra, ACT, Sharlene is the Allocations Coordinator with Alliance Community who started in March last year. In this current role, Sharlene does a little bit of everything – ranging from allocating shifts to Support Stars and sending out rosters to answering phone queries and taking on new requests.

As someone who has worked as a support worker after finishing school, Sharlene is no stranger to the industry. Although she was not sure about what she wanted to pursue, she was certain about doing meaningful work within the community. “That was why I became a support worker. After starting a family and having a break to raise them, it was time for me to get back to the industry I love.”

One of Sharlene’s fondest memories of working for Alliance Community is when she helped to decorate the office for Christmas. “It was fun working with my colleagues to design and put together a spectacular office display, and then bringing the support workers and their families through was just wonderful.”

She loves working at Alliance Community because of the people. For Sharlene, being able to support clients and Support Stars on their journey with Alliance Community is a wonderful feeling. She also believes the approach Alliance Community takes to connect the right Support Star with the client is very personalised and unique.

Sharlene’s advice to those who wants to be part of the Alliance Community family is: “If you are interested in working in the community and making a difference in someone’s life, then don’t hesitate! It is rewarding, meaningful work!”
